The United States of… Israel?
(CNN) – Democrats voted to update their party’s platform Wednesday evening at their convention to include a reference to Jerusalem being the capital of Israel, as well as the insertion of the word “God,” neither of which was included in their platform this year but was in previous platforms.
President Barack Obama himself intervened regarding the Jerusalem language, a senior Democratic source told CNN, adding, that he thought the original draft was “a strong statement and he didn’t want there to be any confusion about his unshakeable commitment to the security of state israel. The issue of the day is Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah.”
Love Israel or hate Israel, whether you’re a Democrat, a Republican, or neither, whether you’re American or not, let’s put politics and religion aside for a second and just look at this unbiasedly.
What this is is a political party belonging to one sovereign nation amending their own party platform, not for the benefit of said nation’s citizens, but for the benefit of a totally different nation on the other side of the world.
Shouldn’t the American politicians, the American leader, and the American political parties be putting their devotion to America and its people first? They should especially not give their own people a backseat in a favor of a nation as controversial and militaristic as Israel. The issue for our president should NOT be Israel, Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah. The issue should be American prosperity, the American economy, employment, and all the other monumental problems our own nation is currently facing.
